(LAVEEN, Ariz. - August 22, 2011) - Laveen Elementary School District will welcome Laveen citizens at the Dedication and Community Open House for their new Laveen Elementary School on September 22, 2011. The event will take place on the school campus located at 4141 W. McNeil Street, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.
District Superintendent Dr. Bill Johnson, along with other community dignitaries, will address the public and cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the school. Students will help lead tours following the ribbon cutting and refreshments.
The 92,000 square foot K-8 school, designed by DLR Group and built by Adolfson & Peterson Construction, can accommodate up to 1,000 students. Current enrollment is at 839 students. “We’re excited about the District’s growth and the support of the public in providing schools of excellence for the children of Laveen. So many people have been involved to make this a day of celebration for our entire community,” said Dr. Bill Johnson, District Superintendent.
The 15-acre campus features a multi-building arrangement that separates Early Childhood area (Pre-K through kindergarten) from the rest of the campus. “The school is designed to promote student growth and well-being with a bright, open plan design. Working with the District has made the process of completing this project on time and under budget a real success,” said DLR Group architect and Principal Bill Taylor, AIA.
